Blackbird
Here is my version of "Blackbird" by the Beatles. I have always loved the simplicity of this song and the way the melody and accompaniment fit together. I do prefer it with guitar, but alas, I don't know how to play that instrument. I've been playing this song for years, and it seems just right for my first blog post. The lyrics are, to me, an encouraging invitation to take a risk, fly into the dark black night in order to find the light.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night,
Take these broken wings and learn to fly.
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night,
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free
Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night
- Paul McCartney
